Biofuels don’t cause food crisis
I have seen a few reports like this recently. So the rising foods costs are just an excuse and bio-fuel is a scapegoat? It’s hard to say, but you do have to wonder how much real blame there is and how much of the rising pricing are just suppliers being opportunistic.
BRASILIA, Brazil – President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made an impassioned defense of biofuels Wednesday, denying that their production contributes to food scarcity and rising global prices.
He also sharply criticized industrial countries for subsidizing agricultural output, which he blamed for undermining the competitiveness of developing nations and reducing world production.
