Cooking: At full speed
“People don’t think that far in advance and they go out the door on the way to work not knowing what they’re going to make for dinner that night,” said Vivian Payne, owner with her husband, Steve, of Dream Dinners in St. John, which lets customers come in and prepare several meals at a time for the freezer at home.
Picking up something — anything — on the way home doesn’t make sense financially, or for healthy eating, agreed Annetta Jones, county extension director/extension educator for the Purdue Extension in Porter County.
“While we think it’s really fast to go through the drive through, by the time we get from point A to point B and wait in line and get home, you may not really be saving that much time,” Jones said, adding the only savings may be the anguish of thinking about and preparing a meal.
